Ralph Homer Morrow

BOLIVAR — MORROW – Ralph Homer, Bolivar, left this life unexpectedly on his 54th birthday, Dec. 8, 2012, while working in Portland, Ind. Born at Mercy Hospital in Johnstown, and grew up in New Florence. In 1977, he graduated from Laurel Valley High School. He left July 21, with his friend Jeff “Knuppie” Knupp, for basic training at Naval Training Station in Great Lakes, Ill. Homer served six years, mostly on the USS Nashville as a fireman hull tech, where he traveled around the world. He was a jack-of-all trades who proudly worked many blue-collar positions during the years. His employment was with Laurel Ridge Land Clearing as a laborer. Homer was a hard-working Irish lad, who loved his family, friends and country beyond words. Some of his passions included living life “his” way, rock-n-roll music with bass blasting, dancing with his eyes closed, shooting pool with pals, taking it personal when the Steelers lose or chewing the rag with anyone about the government, sports, conspiracy theories or just about anything. He would drop what he’s doin’ to help a friend or stranger. He was bigger than life and a hopeless romantic. Rock on sweet Bro. We’ll miss you. Homer is preceded in death by beloved parents, Ray and Adeleine (Boring) Morrow; maternal grandparents, Bill and Lorena (Leary) Boring; paternal grandparents, Ura (Rupert) “Morrow” and Frank Shipley; brother, Richard Morrow; and an infant brother. Survived by children, Alicia Mae Morrow, Seward; Ralph Rayburn Morrow, and fiancee, Ashley, Southmont; and Conner Steven Boring, Rimersburg; grandson, Triston Bruce Xavier Howe, Seward; siblings, June Peffer and Joan Bothell, Creekside; Burnie Morrow, Zephyrhills, Fla.; Char, and hubby, Kim Boring, New Florence; Elana “Lynnie,” and hubby, John Kot, Jackson Township; and Van T. Morrow, New Florence; great-aunt, Odeal Leary, Lehigh Acres, Fla.; uncle, Dean, and aunt, Doris Boring, Trona, Calif.; aunt, Patty Long, New Florence; aunt, Gladys Howard, Johnstown; and special friend, Catherine. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kenneth A. Stuart Funeral Home, 139 Ligonier St., New Florence, the Rev. William Pieringer, officiating. Future inurnment at Fairfield Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.thestuartfuneralhomes.com.
