George Kubas

HOOVERSVILLE — KUBAS  – George, 91, Hooversville, died Dec. 13, 2013, at home.  Born Feb. 24, 1922, in Indian Head, son of John and Kathryn (Matula) Kubas. Preceded in death by parents; four brothers; three sisters; and grandson, Erik Kubas. Survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Helen Maluchnick; children, John, and wife, Rose, Westmont; Marg, married to Joe Mikolich, Boswell; Rose, married to Dennis Perigo, Stoystown; and Thressa, married to Bob Miller, and Greg and Phil Kubas, all of Hooversville; grandchildren, John Kubas, Roxanne Horner, Mike Mikolich, Alyson Retassie, Kevin Perigo, Mandy Martell, Ashley Perigo, Adam Miller, Brooke Hillegas and Ryan Kubas; and eight great-grandchildren. Brother of Frank, Edward and Leon Kubas, Stella Pokos and Jane Shontofski.   He was a retired coal miner and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Hooversville, and UMWA. He enjoyed watching football, baseball and wrestling, feeding the birds, taking care of his yard and spending time with his family. Family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, Hooversville, where vigil service will be held at 2 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Hooversville, the  Rev. Karl Kolodziejski, OFM Conv., celebrant. Committal, church cemetery. Instead of flowers, contributions may be given to Holy Family Catholic Church, P.O. Box 187, Hooversville, Pa. 15936.
