JOHNSTOWN — ALWINE – Catherine M., 88, Johnstown, died Dec. 20, 2013, at Allegheny Lutheran Home. Born July 30, 1925, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Walter and Hilda (Henze) Lape. Preceded in death by her husband, Marlin L. Alwine. Survived by daughter, Susan Brandau, Richland; son, Gary Alwine, and wife, Charlotte, Winston Salem, N.C.; and grandchildren, Rachael Brandau, Jonathan Brandau and Hope Alwine. Member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, sew and crochet. She served as a volunteer at the church, as well as the Lutheran Home. Friends received from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Henderson Funeral Home, East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Pastor Custead, officiating. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church.
