SOMERSET — HALVERSON – Robert H., 94, Somerset, died Jan. 7, 2014, at The Patriot. Born Sept. 7, 1919, in Indiana County, son of the late Halver T. and Claire (Davis) Halverson. Also preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth, Clarence and Jay Halverson; and sisters, Dorothy Barclay and Isabel Flower. Survived by his wife, Martha (Mohney) Halverson and was a beloved uncle to four generations of nieces and nephews. Member of Christ Casebeer  Evangelical Lutheran Church, Somerset Masonic Lodge 358 F&AM, IOOF Lodge 438, VFW Post 554 and Western Pennsylvania Fireman’s Association. Lifetime member of Somerset Volunteer Fire Department. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a 1937 graduate of Somerset High School and a graduate of Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He was owner and director of Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, from 1958 to 1998, and served as one of the first funeral directors as Somerset County Coroner, having serving from 1954 to 1974. Also a member of National Funeral Directors Association, Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association and Somerset County Funeral Directors Association. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, Somerset, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church, where service will follow at 11 a.m., the Rev. Dennis Doebler, officiating.
