Sam C. Salvia

JOHNSTOWN — SALVIA – Sam C.,  85, Upper Yoder, died Jan. 12, 2014,  in Johnstown. Born Dec. 8, 1928, in Johnstown, son of  Thomas and Angeline (Peruso) Salvia. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Grace Marie (Dickert), who died Sept. 18, 2007; son, Sam Jr.; brother, Anthony; and sisters, Josephine Hamilton and Florence Salvia. Survived by daughter-in-law, Marian, widow of Sam Jr., Virginia; and grandchildren, Jessica, Sarah, Joshua and Aaron Salvia. Also survived by sisters, Connie, wife of Edward Rickett; Rose Marie, wife of  Robert Hajer; Thomas, married to Sharon;  and James, married to Diane, all of Johnstown. He was a graduate of Greater Johnstown High School and a Army veteran of the Korean War. Sam was a loving, kind and generous man whose strong faith guided him through many hardships. He brought comfort to others with his quick wit, sense of humor and warm personality. Longtime member of St. Clement Catholic Church, where funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, the Rev. William E. Rosenbaum. Friends received from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Committal, St. Anthony Cemetery, Geistown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Clement Catholic Church, 114 Lindberg Ave., Johnstown, Pa. 15905,  in his memory. Condolences may be sent through
