Charles R. Heider

LANDER, WYO. — HEIDER– Charles R. “Chappy,” 99, passed in peace Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Westward Heights Care Center, Lander, Wyo. Born Sept. 29, 1913, in Johnstown, son of Edward L. and Anna B. (Custer) Heider. He is preceded in death by parents;  his wife, Florence M. (Nichols) Heider; and granddaughter, Annie Kline. Survived by daughter, Louise “Pixie,” married to Bruce Kline, Lander; grandchildren, Melissa (Missy) married to Jason Walker, Gillette, Wyo., and Cody Kline, married to Kathryn Loughan, Boulder, Colo.; and great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Malerie Walker. Chappie was a retired yardmaster for Conemaugh and BlackLick Railroad. He was a faithful member of Calvary Methodist Church. Chappy was a trustee and life member of Johnstown Elks Lodge 175. He was also a member of the Menoher Post 155, VFW. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served with the 20th Armored Division. In 2010, Chappy moved from his hometown of Johnstown to Lander to be with his daughter. At the request of the family, there will be no viewing. Friends are invited to a graveside memorial service  at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at Grandview Cemetery. The family would like to thank the community for a lifetime of help and happiness.
