Joseph P. Sottile

CARROLLTOWN — SOTTILE – Joseph P., 94,  Carrolltown, passed away May 14, 2013, at Miners Hospital, Hastings. Born June 3, 1918, in Barr Township, son of James Vincent and Charlotte (Macaluso) Sottile. Preceded in death by parents; loving wife, Cecelia J. (Skrodinsky) Sottile, who died Feb. 23, 2000; brothers, Anthony, Samuel, Michael and John Sottile; and sisters, Mae Kupetz and Rose Shannon. Survived by sons, David Sottile, Carrolltown; Paul Sottile, Johnstown; and Joseph Sottile, husband of Kim Swarden, Lexington, Ky.; grandchildren, Leslie, Alex and Eric Sottile; and great-grandson, Tyler. Sister of Evelyn Marks, Carrolltown. A World War II Army veteran. Member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Joe was well-known in the area as a salesman for Raleigh Home Products for 65 years. He enjoyed music and was a member of Chordettes Polka Band. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Moriconi Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, May 20,  at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Nicktown, Father Jude Brady, OSB, celebrant. Committal, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Patton. Military honors by local veterans organizations.
