LAWRENCE, PA. — HYDE – Esther L. (Weaver), 91, Lawrence Park, Pa., passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Forestview Healthcare Center, Erie, where she had resided since August 2011. Born in Windber, daughter of the late Alonzo H. and Ida E. (Berkey) Weaver. Esther graduated from Windber High School in 1939. During World War II, she was employed as an operator at General Telephone Co., Somerset. On Dec. 21, 1946, she married the late Ernest R. Hyde of Manns Choice. They settled in the Erie area, where they remained during their 58-year marriage. Esther worked for General Electric Co., Erie, before becoming a full-time homemaker and mother. A longtime member of Lawrence Park United Methodist Church, she enjoyed church activities, gardening and sewing. In addition to her parents and husband, Esther was preceded in death by siblings, Emory, Elgin and Leland Weaver; Hope Carroll; and Hilda Shaffer, all of whom had resided in the Windber area, Zelda Morgart, resided in Somerset; and Herschel Weaver, resided in Arlington, Va. Survived by daughters, Carolyn (Gary) McCartney, Edinboro; and Barbara (James) Gray, Valdosta, Ga.; grandchildren, Zachary (Leah) McCartney, Erie; and Shannon (McCartney) Clark, New Castle; great-granddaughters, Annelise and Kylene Clark; sister-in-law, Betty Hyde, Harrisburg, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews, and their children. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Dusckas Funeral Home Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road, Erie. Further visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Berkey Church of the Brethren, Windber.
