Almeda Mary (Crissey) Burgan

JOHNSTOWN — BURGAN – Almeda Mary (Crissey), 93, Golden Living Center, formerly of Garden Terrace Apartments, died March 31, 2014, at her residence. Born April 19, 1920, in Johnstown, daughter of Joseph and Anna Margaret (Schillinger) Crissey. Preceded in death by parents; husband, William H.; brothers, Edward Dale and Thomas Roy (both boys drowned while skating on ice on the Stonycreek River in Ferndale); and sister, Anna Jane Potts. Survived by children, Ruth Miller; William E.; and Thomas R., widower of Barbara (Harr); sister, Bertha Martin; brother, David H., married to Martha (LaVan); grandchildren, Lynn McDaniel, Thomas Miller, Richard Miller, Scott Miller, William Burgan, Steven Burgan, David Burgan, Lisa Burgan, Mark Burgan, Tammy Burgan, Thomas Burgan and Tracey Burgan; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She loved to travel, was an avid bowler and loved doing activities at the senior center, mostly oil paintings, knit and crochet. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, the Rev. Edward C. Patterson. Interment, Dunmyer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or St. Vincent de Paul Society.
