Patrick C. McGlynn

HASTINGS — McGLYNN – Patrick C. “Irish,” 75, Hastings, went to be with the Lord Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Preceded in death by parents, Leo and Helen (Kozub) McGlynn; infant brother, Leo McGlynn Jr.; three infant children; and son-in-law, George Elbel. Survived by wife of 52 years, Alice (Kline) McGlynn; and children, Patricia Elbel (Lance Walker), Punxsutawney; Deborah (William) Strittmatter, Patton; Patrick (Theresa) McGlynn Jr., Johnstown; Colleen (Carl) Pierce, Hastings; and Barbara McGlynn, at home. Brother of Helen Lewarchick, Ohio; Rose (Jack) Kolesar, New Cumberland; Thomas (Peggy) McGlynn, Patton; Jean (Wayne) Anderson, Punxsutawney; and Kate (Vaune) Kizak, Northern Cambria. Also survived by grandchildren, George, Clark (Melinda) and Jill Elbel; Matthew, Joseph, Christopher (Amanda), Scott and Rebecca Strittmatter; Lara McGlynn; and Alison, Nicole and Noel Pierce; and great-grandchildren, Jason Demmler, Noah Elbel, Madison Pierce, Macy Keller, Isaac Stauski and baby boy Pierce. Patrick was a U.S. Navy veteran. Member of Hastings VFW and Fire Club, Patton American Legion and Hastings Fire Police. He was a volunteer for Cambria Heights Football “Chain Gang” for many years. Also a member St. Bernard Catholic Church. Pat worked at Carol Ann Apparel and McCreary Tire and Rubber, and was a bartender at Hastings VFW. Patrick attended all veterans’ funerals and proudly carried the American flag in the Veteran parades until his health failed. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He enjoyed the time spent shooting the bull on summer nights, long walks with Alice and helping his friends and neighbors, but he especially enjoyed the time he spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they all gave him great pleasure. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Easly-Hindman Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hastings. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Burial, church cemetery. Military honors by local veterans organizations.
