MIDDLETOWN, N.J. — MONKO – William P., 83, Middletown, N.J., died Monday, March 25, 2013, in Covington, Va. Born March 17, 1930, in Cairnbrook, son of Andrew and Sophia (Patutsky). Preceded in death by parents and wife, Eleanor, in 2008. Survived by sons, Michael, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Robert, and wife, Carolyn, Laurel, Md.; and Steven, and wife, Dawn, Jackson, N.J.; sister, Mary Stopa, Trenton, Mich.; and grandchildren, Jason; Lance Cpl. Kyle, U.S. Marine Corps; Catharine; and Matthew. William was a 1948 graduate of Shade-Central City High School; honorably served in the U.S. Navy; and received his bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland-University College at College Park, Md. He retired in 1994 after 40 years of service with AT&T, and was an avid fisherman and frequent golfer after retirement. He also was a life member of American Legion, VFW and Pioneers of America. Member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, Tinton Falls, N.J., since 1969, having served at times as a trustee and treasurer. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 1, at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, N.J. 07701. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Lutheran Memorial Church in Tinton Falls. Interment will remain private.
