SOMERSET — MOORE – Walter G., 91, Siemons Lake View Manor, died Jan. 24, 2013, at Somerset Hospital. Born June 22, 1921, in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, son of Lizzie Ellen Lehman. Preceded in death by mother; first wife, the former Miriam McGlinsey; second wife, the former Marion Saylor; children, Walter Maxwell, Darlene Ruth and Dalton Ross; sisters, Mary Blough and Letha Platter; niece, Rhonda Blough; nephew, Mark Schrader; and great-nephew, Steven Schrader Jr. Survived by daughters, Alvena Suzanne, widow of Mike Bowersox, Milroy, Pa.; Glenda K., married to John C. Wendling, Irwin, Pa.; Karen M., widow of Homer Renner, Central City; and Sharon M., widow of Robert Bittner, Claremore, Okla.; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren. Also survived by brother-in-law, Orvis Platter; nephews, Melvin Blough and Steven and Diane Schrader; and great-niece and -nephew, Derek and Heather Schrader. Member of Blough Mennonite Church. He graduated from Pittsburgh School for the Blind. He took business courses through the University of Pittsburgh and Penn State. Also a member of Blind Visual Services for 24 years. He worked for the Canteen for the Blind in Somerset Hospital, Fairfoot Shoe Factory in Bedford and Ebensburg Courthouse. He was a producer for food services. Member of Conemaugh, Meyersdale and Central City Lions Clubs, where he received the Fellow Award and Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He enjoyed farming and was and avid churchgoer. Family receiving friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at George E. Mason Funeral Home Inc., Davidsville, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Blough Mennonite Church, Pastor Eric Lasure, officiating.
