PARIS, OHIO — SHOEMAKER – Shirley J., 77, Paris, Ohio, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Alliance Community Care Center, Ohio. Born April 19, 1935, in Johnstown, to Charles and Ruth Irene (Dick) Roberts. She was a housewife and attended Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She was an avid singer, guitar player and champion yodeler and sang in her brother, Hap Roberts, bluegrass band. Survived by husband, William Shoemaker, whom she married April 16, 1955; daughter, Tamera (Richard) Sale, Minerva, Ohio; son, John (Keniazh) Shoemaker, Waxhaw, N.C.; sister, Leona (Robert) Boyle, Beloit, Ohio; brothers, Kenneth (Joan) Roberts and Joseph Roberts, both of Johnstown; and grandchildren, Jesse and Emily Beaber, Richie, Laura and Amanda Sale. Preceded in death by sisters, Betty Schlosser and Ethel Roberts; brothers, Milton, Lester, Harold “Hap” and Robert Roberts; and grandson, Ben Burr. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home, Minerva, Ohio, and one hour prior to funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday, Pastor Dave Cannon, officiating. Burial, Liberty Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Alliance Visiting Nurse and Hospice Association.
