JOHNSTOWN — HARE – Benjamin E., 92, Johnstown, died Nov. 11, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Feb. 23, 1920, in Akron, Ohio, son of Benjamin H. and Mary Ellen (Bowers) Hare. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Ruth I., who died in 2007; brothers, Jack and Jim Hare; and sisters, Gertrude Mostoller, Phyllis Gelet and June Lambert. Survived by loving children, Shelba Jean, married to Raymond Bywater, Johnstown; Benjamin Robert, married to the former Mary Ann Frischkorn, Johnstown; Cheryl E., married to Richard Smyder, Florida; William James, married to the former JoAnn Blasic, Parkhill; and Richard E., Johnstown; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Grace Duppstadt, Florida; and Geraldine Peterson, Johnstown. Member of Moxham Colonial Church of the Brethren. Retired from U.S. Steel and King’s Department Store. Army veteran of World War II, having received the Purple Heart for wounds during the Normany Invasion. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Geisel Funeral Home, Geisel-Devlin Memorial Chapel, Pastor William Wenger, officiating.
