Warren Dean Gillin

WENATCHEE, WASH. — GILLIN – Warren Dean, 86, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at his home in Wenatchee, Wash. Born Nov. 27, 1926, in Johnstown, the youngest of 10 children of Charles and Mary Jane (Hildebrand) Gillin. He graduated from East Conemaugh High School in 1946. Following graduation, he worked for Church of the Brethren Publishing Co. in Elgin, Ill., where he met Marian Deardorff. They were married in 1948 in Wenatchee, Wash., where they made their home. Dean worked at The Wenatchee World newspaper for 40 years, having retired in 1991. Dean was a devoted member of Sunnyslope Church. He owned and operated a cherry orchard and ran a snowplowing business. Survived by wife Marian, at home; brother, Chalmer Gillin; and sister, Elmira Cobaugh, both of Pennsylvania; sons, Keith (Bobbie), Scott (Marcy Groche), Gary (Susan), Tony (Evy), Craig (Lisa) and Kelly (Patty), all of Washington state; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Service will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 25 at Brethren-Baptist Church, Wenatchee, Wash.
