TURNER, ORE. — PRISTOW (LITZINGER)– Wanda Mae, 86, Turner, Ore., formerly of Johnstown, passed away March 30, 2013, at home. Born March 4, 1927, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Jack W. and Agnes C. (Goss) Litzinger. Preceded in death by former husband, Lynn W. Gall; husband, Evan J. Pristow; son, Gary A. Gall; and sister, Jacqueline McAchren. Survived by loving daughter, Sandra, married to David Miller; granddaughter, Erica D. (Miller) Fay; and great-grandchildren, Makenna, Elliott, Adelynn and Gideon Fay, all of Salem, Ore. Wanda served her community in Johnstown for 50 years as a registered nurse. She entered into the Cadet Nursing Program in 1945 through Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital. Her career in nursing encompassed Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital, Lee Hospital (head of IV team as well as head nurse of the pediatric department), Mercy Hospital (IV therapy nurse) and Somerset Community Hospital (obstetrics department). Wanda was the first director at United Cerebral Palsy in Johnstown, as well as serving as a staff nurse for the American Red Cross and U.S. Steel Corp. Wanda moved to Oregon in 2003 to be with her family. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ash Street, Johnstown, and a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Salem. Volunteered at Salem Hospital, member of the Courthouse Athletic Club of South Salem and member of the South Salem Senior Center. At Wanda’s request, there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Johnstown.
