LORETTO — SUMNER – Ethan John, 23, Loretto R.D., died Oct. 17, 2013. Born June 7, 1990, in Altoona, son of Larry J. “Fuzzy” and Joan M. (Conrad) Sumner. Preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Cyril Sumner. Survived by parents of Loretto R.D.; sisters, Kaytlin Rose Sumner, Loretto R.D.; and Molly Beth Sumner (Stephen Holland), Monroeville; maternal grandparents, John J. “Jack” and Mary “Rose” (Schenk) Conrad, Loretto R.D.; paternal grandmother, Theresa (Weakland) Sumner, Loretto R.D.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Also survived by special friends, Elliot Orlosky, Munster; and Francie Morello, Johnstown. Ethan enjoyed flashlight walks and fireworks. He was a knife collector, and was an avid New York Jets and sports fan. He graduated from Penn Cambria High School in 2008 as an honor student. He had a bachelor’s degree in health science from St. Francis University, Loretto, and would have received his master’s degree in the spring of 2014 in occupational therapy. Ethan worked at St. Francis University on a work study program. He was working for Pro Care, Roaring Springs, on his clinical, and for SoHo Publishing, Altoona. Former member of Chest Springs Sportsmen, and member of Clearfield Creek Watershed Authority. He did volunteer work for the Muscular Dystrophy Summer Camp near Pittsburgh. Member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Joseph Fleming, celebrant. Committal, church cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, where vigil service will be held Friday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Muscular Dystrophy Camp where Ethan volunteered.
