ST. BENEDICT — CHARNEY – Ann (Wannett), 92, St. Benedict, passed away Nov. 8, 2013, at Allegheny Lutheran Home, Hollidaysburg. Born Dec. 2, 1920, in Heilwood, daughter of Joseph and Theresa (Yurchisn) Wannett. Preceded in death by parents; first husband, Zigmond Thomas Petrosky, killed in action in Normandy, France, on Aug. 5, 1944; second husband, Charles J. Charney, who died Jan. 18, 1978; sons, Joseph Petrosky, John Charney and Rick Charney; brothers, Metro, Michael, John, Andrew, Peter and Frank Wannett; and sisters, Helen Recesky, Marie Timura and Susan Lutz. Ann was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Ann grew up on a small farm in Indiana County and spent some years working in the dining service at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After marrying Charles J. Charney, she moved to St. Benedict, where she resided for more than 60 years, raising her family of six children. Ann is survived by sons, Ronald J. Charney, married to the former Carol Sharbaugh, Carrolltown; and David E. Charney, married to the former Claudia Kline, St. Benedict; daughter, Carole, wife of Dennis E. Sheehan, Patton; daughters-in-law, Joanie Petrosky, Ohio; and Kimberly (Nagle) Charney, Patton; grandchildren, John Charney, Ronald (Barb) Charney, Mary Amanda (Josh) Dillon, Jacqueline (Anthony) Claudia, Jill (Matthew) Tomb, Jesse Sheehan, David (Leah) Charney, Stacey (Timothy) Bassett, Ricky Charney, Dustin Charney, Travis Charney and Thomas Petrosky; and 12 great-grandchildren. Member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. Ann enjoyed attending the Northern Cambria Senior Citizens Center, where she competed in the Senior Olympic dart competition, winning several medals. She also enjoyed dancing and old-time music and was a member of the dancing senior citizens, the Spangler Silhouettes. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Moriconi Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, followed by funeral Liturgy to be celebrated 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Church, Northern Cambria, Father Andrew Clarke, officiating. Committal, St. Benedict Cemetery.
