Richard A. "Red" Donaldson

NANTY GLO — DONALDSON – Richard A. “Red,” 75, Nanty Glo, passed away April 23, 2012, at home. Born Dec. 12, 1936, in Nanty Glo, son of the late Andrew and Blanche (Whitsell) Donaldson. Preceded in death by wife, Gertrude “Sis”; brother, Donald; and sister, Zelda. Survived by sons, Richard (Verna) Donaldson, Norfolk, Va.; and Robert Donaldson, Virginia Beach, Va.; and grandchildren, Jesse, Cheryl, Richard, Andrew and Kasey. Also survived by sisters, Lorraine Lubert and Barbara Becker; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A U.S. Air Force veteran. Member and chaplain of Twin Rocks VFW, Steve Klosz Post 7605. Red enjoyed playing the guitar and fishing. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo, the Rev. C. Edward Albert, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Red’s memory may be made to Twin Rocks VFW. Military rites by Twin Rocks, Nanty Glo and Vintondale veterans organizations.
