STOYSTOWN — LEHMAN – Ray F., 91, Stoystown, died Jan. 30, 2014, at home. Born Sept. 16, 1922, in Shade Township, son of Byron E. and Ida B. (Miller) Lehman. Preceded in death by parents and sisters, LaVerne G. Ott, and husband, Howard; and Lois M. Miller, and husband, Herbert. Survived by his loving wife of 68 years, the former Ethel Zwick, whom he married May 19, 1945; children, R. Carter, and wife, Jone Miller, Stoystown; Richard, and wife, Barbara Long, Stoystown; Deborah, and husband, Dennis Barnick, Boswell; Cynthia, and late husband, Ralph Miller, Stoystown; and Wendy, and husband, Rod Kaufman, Akron, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; also one great-great-grandson. A 1940 graduate of Hooversville High School. He served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation store keeper first class from 1943 to 1946, where he served in Panama, Nicaragua and Ecuador. He worked for Acme Markets for 14 years and retired from Northwestern Mutual Life, where he worked for more than 20 years. Member of Hooversville United Methodist Church for 70 years, where he was a Sunday school superintendent and teacher. He was treasurer for CEF and editor for Hooversville Historical Society newsletter. He also donated 100 pints of blood. Ray participated in the Daily American walk/run for many years and also served as chaplain for the Hooversville VFW. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Monday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, the Rev. Gary Tustin, officiating.
