John J. Fees Sr.

CARROLLTOWN — FEES – John J. Sr., 66, Carrolltown, passed away April 26, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center.  He was born March 11, 1947, in Pittsburgh, the son of Alvin J. “Sharkey” and Hilda (Dumm) Fees. He is preceded in death by his parents. John is survived by wife, Susan (Fink) Fees, whom he married Sept. 18, 2004;  children, Emily J. (Rich) Sclesky, Carrolltown; John J. “Nutsy” (Jenny) Fees Jr., Carrolltown; and stepson, Benjamin Fink, Clearfield;  grandchildren, Jordan, John III and Joshua Fees and Isaac, Joseph and Riley Sclesky;  great-granddaughter, Kennedy Fees; brother, David (Tami) Fees, Bellefonte; sister, Mary Rieger, Carrolltown;  and numerous nieces and nephews. John was a U.S. Army veteran of the  Vietnam War and worked at Greenwich Colleries Mines as a miner before retiring from the maintenance department at St. Francis University. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown; Carrolltown American Legion, Post 506; St. Benedict VFW Post 7783; and Carrolltown Fire Engine Co. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and  wildlife  and was a member of Dark Hollow Hunting Camp. At John’s request, there will be no visitation.  Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, the Rev. Jude W. Brady, OSB.  Committal, church cemetery.  Memorials are requested to St. Benedict VFW.  Military rites will be accorded by local veterans.  Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home Inc., Carrolltown.  (
