JOHNSTOWN — BORATKO – Samuel, 90, Johnstown, went home to be with the Lord May 4, 2013. Born June 2, 1922, in Velky Slavkov, Czechoslovakia, one of a set of triplets in a family of twelve children born to John and Suzanna (Janco) Boratko. Loving father of six daughters and one son. Grandfather of 16. Great-grandfather of four. Member of University Park Church of God, Richland Township. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U. S. Army 104th Infantry Division. Worked for Bethlehem Steel for 33 years as a crane operator in the Gautier Division and for Conemaugh Hospital dietary department for four years. He enjoyed extensive traveling and loved to cook. He had a great love and devotion for his family. His love of people and sense of humor allowed him to have many friends around the world. Preceded in death by wife, Susan (Zachar), to whom he was married 43 years; grandson, Aaron Borodach; parents; sisters, Ann Horvath and Julia Rothblum; triplet brothers, John and Paul; and brothers, Andrew and Robert. Survived by his precious children, Elaine Matas (Raymond), Akron, Ohio; Kathleen Ruckman (Tom), Eugene, Ore.; Beverly Roberts (Mark), Johnstown; Susan Shetler (Daniel), Johnstown; Esther Chernisky (Bernard), Reading; Diane Kerr (Terry), Johnstown; and Gary Boratko (Alayne Williams), Johnstown. Also survived by brother, Bartholomew (Bert), Johnstown; sister, Helen Sholtis, Torrington, Conn.; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Henderson Funeral Home East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., Johnstown, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev.
