Patricia Owens

CARROLLTOWN — OWENS – Patricia “Patty,”  93, Carrolltown, passed away March 7, 2014, at her home. She was born Dec. 6, 1920, in Wallsend, England, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Robson) Short.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Owens Jr., whom she married Jan. 23, 1943; grandsons, Joseph F. Owens Jr. and John Paul Owens; great-grandson, Matthew Bertram; and siblings, Jennie, Mary, Ella, Theresa, Lilly, John and Frank.  She is survived by children, Carol (Bob) Woodworth, T. Edward (Donna) Owens, Liz (Clifford) Wolf, David (Josie) Owens, Winnie (Charles) Shingle, Paul (Doris) Owens, Mike Owens and Joseph Owens; 23 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph Short, Lewistown; devoted niece and friend, Linda Lieb; and several nieces and nephews.  Patty retired from Ebensburg Center after 10 years of service. Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown; Carrolltown American Legion Post 506 Auxiliary; Carrolltown Fire Club; and St. Benedict VFW Post 7783 Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, shopping and gardening and was devoted to her family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at Stevens Funeral Home Inc.,  146 N. Main St., Carrolltown, Pa. 15722, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.  Additional viewing will be held from 11 a.m.  until time of funeral Mass at noon  Tuesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, the Rev.
