Leon "Buzz" Endler

HASTINGS — ENDLER – Leon “Buzz,” 85, Hastings, died May 18, 2010, at Live Well Estate, Hillsdale. Born Dec. 24, 1924, in St. Boniface, son of the late Michael and Mary (McClelland) Endler. Preceded in death by brothers, William “Ting” and Michael “Chet”; sisters, Adeline Sullivan, Agnes Milchak and Kathryn Burkey; and twin sister, Leona Marshall. Survived by wife of 62 years, the former Mary Lou Thomas; children, Deborah (Tim) Schroeder, Herndon, Va.; Thomas (Myra), Highland, Md.; Marilyn (Jeff) Lantzy, Northern Cambria; and Susan, Vinco; and grandchildren, Kristin, Gretchen, Timothy, Jared, Maren and Katrina; also six great-grandchildren. Brother of Margaret McClain, Camp Hill; Joanne Neff, Arizona; and Patricia Lacey, Delaware; sister-in-law, Janet Lipnic; and brother-in-law, William R. (Connie) Thomas. A World War II Army veteran, proudly serving in the 3rd Army under Gen. George Patton. Member of Hastings VFW, Fire Club and Moose and UMWA Local 1358. Buzz was an auto mechanic and enjoyed hunting and working on small engines and motors and welcomed the challenge of trying to fix anything that wouldn’t run. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Easly Funeral Home, Hastings. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Chapel, St. Boniface. Interment, Union Cemetery. Military rites by Hastings VFW. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hastings Area Youth Association or Home Nursing Hospice, 118 Ebony Road, Suite 200, Ebensburg, Pa. 15931.
