JOHNSTOWN — VOEGHTLY – Julia J. (Gresh), 74, Johnstown, passed away peacefully April 21, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center, Palliative Care Unit, with her children by her side. Born Dec. 27, 1939, in Johnstown, daughter of Andrew and Mary Gresh. Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill and Nick Gresh; and sister, Ann Rykalsky. Survived by her children, Chuck, married to the former Irina Nikitina, Potomac Falls, Va.; Kevin, Pittsburgh; Karen, wife of Dan Fitzgerald, Pittsburgh; and Brenda, Johnstown. Grandma Julie to Tony, Brandon, Keaton and Aaron. Also survived by sisters, Olga Denton, California; and Martha Sanders, Johnstown. Julie was above all else a dedicated mother and grandmother, whose infectious laugh was her reminder that laughter was indeed life’s best medicine. A devout Christian, she was well read and very enthusiastic about politics and government affairs. She worked at City Hall, was active in post flood redevelopment committees and spent several years working for the Crown American-owned Holiday Inn, downtown Johnstown. She was passionate about her home, gardening, animals, and especially cooking for her family. She will be sadly missed by those she touched. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., 710 Broad St. Funeral service for immediate family will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Raymond Streets, officiating. Inurnment, Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, family requests contributions be made to Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries, 807 Goucher St., Johnstown, Pa. 15905, or a charity of your choice.
