DAVIDSVILLE — BURKEY – William C., 81, Davidsville, died Oct. 5, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Oct. 4, 1931, in Seward, son of Clarence W. “Sparky” and Helen (Leventry) Burkey. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Ronald; and sisters, Janet and Mary Ann Burkey. Survived by wife of 55 years, the former Dorothy A. Ferre; children, Mark, married to the former Tina Speicher, Davidsville; and Lisa, married to Bob Moranduzzo, Stoystown; grandchildren, Andrew Burkey, Johnstown; William Burkey, married to the former Rachael Poole, Indianapolis, Ind.; Jessica Burkey, Davidsville; and Adam and Laura Moranduzzo, Stoystown; great-grandson, Ulrich Burkey; sisters, Sandy Stultz, Hollsopple; and Linda, married to Rick Rager, Hollsopple; and numerous nieces and nephews. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he served with the 72nd Combat Engineering. A retired mine foreman for North American Coal Co., Seward. Member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Davidsville, and Knights of Columbus. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting and reading and was a history buff, but he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anne Church, the Rev. Father Michael Lewandowski, OFM, Conv., celebrant. Committal, Mount Hope Cemetery, South Fork, with military honors by Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual Team.
