MENOHER HEIGHTS — WASILISIAN – James Sr., 83, Menoher Heights, died Oct. 6, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Born Nov. 7, 1928, son of Andrew and Anna (Hullis) Wasylyzn. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Arleen J. Clark; infant son, Paul; and brothers and sisters, Paul Wasilisian, Anna Gomez, Rose Murphy, Mary Webb, Michael Wasilisian and Catherine Dedianko. Survived by wife of 57 years, Shirley (Devine), and their children, stepson, Earl Werner; Diane Wasilisian; Cheryl Dorchak; Karen, and husband, John Taccona; and James Jr., and wife, Kymberly (Knapp) Wasilisian; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene Sanna and Stephanie Platt; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Jim was a 1947 graduate of Johnstown High School and an employee of Bethlehem Steel Corp. until joining the Air Force in 1950. While in the Air Force, he served in Germany until 1954, having received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal and Occupational Service Medal. He underwent AGI training for radio and television repair separating as an Airman 1st Class. He retired from of Johnstown Window Cleaning Co. Jim loved his family and enjoyed taking them hiking and picnicking in the woods. He enjoyed holiday time displaying his train sets. He was a “do-it-yourself” kind of guy and was always working in his yard. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Moskal Funeral Home, West End, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Tom Moore and the Rev. Marge Kiefer, co-celebrating. Committal, Grandview Cemetery.
