MOUNT HOPE — RUDDEK – Dorothy L., 82, Mount Hope, died Oct. 7, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 13, 1930, in Croyle Township, daughter of Walter H. and Evelyn M. (Partsch) Burnheimer. Preceded in death by parents; son, Larry; grandparents, Harry and Cora (Gillman) Burnheimer, who raised her; and daughter-in-law, Cathy Jean (Straw). Survived by loving husband of 63 years, Charles F. Ruddek, whom she married July 2, 1949; sons, Ricky C., South Fork; Randy, Wilmore; Harry W., married to Yvette Barbalish, Dunlo; and James W., Mount Hope; daughter, Cora, wife of James Hunter, Fishertown; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church, Mount Hope, where she sang in the choir and participated in the women’s group. She was a graduate of Adams Township High School, Class of 1948, and was a former aide at Johnstown Area Vo-Tech. Dorothy was active in the community and proud of being the first woman to serve on the Forest Hills School Board. She enjoyed camping, relaxing with friends and spending time with her family. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at noon Wednesday at Mount Hope United Methodist Church, the Rev. Jason McQueen. Interment, Mount Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home Inc., South Fork. As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Mount Hope United Methodist Church in Dorothy’s honor.
