GALLITZIN — HOWELL – Mary Jean “Jean,” 83, Gallitzin, died July 4, 2013, at UPMC Altoona. Born May 4, 1930, in Portage, daughter of the late William and Leona (Madigan) Passick. Preceded in death by sister, Thelma Martin. Survived by husband, Roy P. Sr., whom she married Oct. 7, 1950, in Portage; children, Mary Lou (Fred) Offman, Portage; Elizabeth Ann (James) Miller, Gallitzin; Beverly (Greg) Petyak, Portage; Francis, Portage; and Roy P. Jr., Gallitzin; grandchildren, Sonja (Dr. Jason) Bihary, Duncansville; Tracey (Zack) Johnson, Maryland; Aaron Offman, Portage; Tami (Dan) Hardisty, Maryland; James E. Miller Jr. (Lauren), Maryland; and Amber (Matthew) Phillips, Portage; and great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Morgan, Peyton, Reagan, Tevon, Elijah, Brianna, McKayla, Jordan, Justin, Carley, Khloee, Alycia, James III, Lucas, Grayson, Nathan and Cameron. Sister of William Jr. (Joan) Passick, Fayetteville, N.C.; Carol Halovich, Jamestown, N.Y.; and Martin Passick, Portage. Jean enjoyed cooking and helping neighbors, and also helped at St. Patrick’s School cafeteria and other church activities. Member of Christian Mothers and St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Albert Ledoux, celebrant. Committal, St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where vigil will be held Sunday. (
