SEBRING, FLA. — ISHMAN – Irvin W., 99, Sebring, Fla., formerly of Windber, died April 17, 2013, at Good Shepherd Hospice, Sebring. Born Oct. 14, 1913, in Blairs Mills, son of the late Charles C. and Ella (Kern) Ishman. Also preceded in death by wife, former Alice I. Miller; second wife, former Alma Cooper; daughter, Lois Statler; grandchildren, Steve Ishman, James Hackett and Donald Ishman; one great-grandchild; brother, Edward; sisters, Katherine Martin, Dorothy Ishman, Mary Tantorno and Mona Tang; son-in-law, David Hackett; and daughter-in-law, former Maggie Askey. Survived by these children: John, married to the former Rita Stopyak, Clearwater, Fla.; William, and fiancee, Sandra DiGiulio, Windber; Barbara Hackett, Orlando, Fla.; and Ronald, married to the former Catherine Knecht, Sykesville, Md. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law to Harold Martin, Florida, and Tommy Tang, New Jersey. Irv spent his work years doing a variety of jobs and civic activities until retiring in 1972. He held various positions at Reitz Coal Co. He served as temporary postmaster, then purchased Parnell Insurance and then later purchased Hutchison Insurance, which he merged into Parnell-Hutchison Insurance, from which he retired. He held various offices in the Windber Volunteer Fire Company until becoming chief, an office he held for 17 years. Irv set a good example of what hard work will do to support a family. Member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Windber, where service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Pastor Ken Diable, officiating.  Interment, Richland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home Inc., Windber.  Memorial contributions may be made to Windber Volunteer Fire Company in Irvin’s name.
