EBENSBURG — CONIGY – Leonard F., 93, Ebensburg, died Feb. 18, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Nov. 21, 1920, in Colver, son of Ferdinand and Clementa (Chiaramonti) Conigy. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Catherine Alekna; and brothers and sisters, Jenny Risaliti, Caroline Domenick, Ida Mazzarella, Lena Mazzarella, Agnes DePalantonio, Donald, Joseph and Albert. Survived by brother-in-law, Frank Snell; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nephews who called him Pop Pop. Formerly employed at International Union of Engineers, Local 66, Pittsburgh. Marine veteran of World War II with the First Marine Division. Member of VFW Post 4963, American Legion Post 363 and LOOM Lodge 681, all of Ebensburg. At Leonard’s request, there will be no public viewing or visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church for funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Ebensburg, the Rev. Monsignor David Lochard. Committal, Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Wounded Warriors, St. Jude Hospital or Carmelites Nuns of Loretto in Len’s memory. Funeral arrangements by Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg. Those attending the Mass, you are asked to park in the parking lot across from the church on Julian Street.
