FLORIDA — NEAFACH – Harold, 97, passed away peacefully, in Longwood, Fla., in the presence of family. Although his last years were spent in Florida, he always considered Johnstown his hometown, where he graduated from Westmont High School and was a co-owner of Paul’s Shoe, a Main Street fixture. Even when the flood destroyed his store, Harold felt strongly that rebuilding and continuing on was the right way to help restore Johnstown. He enlisted in the Army and served in World War II. He was at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Upon his return, he continued his active involvement in the community and was past president of Beth Zion Temple. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, LeahBelle Neafach. Survived by children, Beverly (Bill) Murphy, Alan (Mary) Neafach, Ruthie Neafach and Carol (Andrew) Stuart; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Contributions may be made to Jewish Pavilion, P.O. Box 160056, Altamonte Springs, Fla. 32716.
