BERKEY - Marian

BERKEY - Marian E., 82 ,12004 N. Dawn Drive, Meadville, and formerly a longtime Johnstown resident, died Friday, June 16, 2006, at Meadville Medical Center after being a 35-year cancer survivor. She was born May 4, 1924, in Forty Fort, a daughter of William and Ellie Thomas Roberts. She married Leon H. Berkey on Jan. 20, 1949, and he survives. She was a 1943 graduate of Kingston Township High School, and was a part of the Air Force Nursing Cadet program during World War II. She worked over the years as a nurse at Beachwood Nursing Home and Lee Hospital, both in Johnstown. She was a member of the Adams Township, Cambria County, Farm Women, TOPS and Grace United Methodist Church of Meadville. Survivors, in addition to her husband, Leon of 57 years, include two sons, Lloyd Berkey, and his wife, Robin, Meadville, and Thomas Berkey, and his wife, Ann, St. Augustine, Fla.; one sister, Helen Long, Wilkes-Barre; four grandchildren, William Berkey, and his wife, Michelle; Adam Berkey; Catherine Berkey; and Cassandra Berkey; and three great grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua and Jeremiah. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. The funeral and committal service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Meadville. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 464 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.

DURST -?Clarence E. "Bud," 77, Meyersdale, formerly of Jenner Township, Somerset County, died June 15, 2006, at Beverly HealthCare-Meyersdale Manor. Born Sept. 30, 1928, in Jenner Township, son of Abe and Nellie M. (Bowden) Durst. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Kathryn Warnick and Thema Rader; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Durst. Brother of Melda Shaffer, Fostoria, Ohio; Robert, married to Katie (Kabina) Spory, Johnstown; and Wilma, married to John Durst, Frostburg, Md. Brother-in-law of Melvin Warnick, Somerset; and Raymond Rader, Fostoria. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial service at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home -- Cremation Services, Allegheny Street, Boswell, the Rev. Gary W. Anderson officiating. Interment, Beam Cemetery, near Gray, at a later dater.
