CICOTELLO - Christopher David

CICOTELLO - Christopher David, 30, died June 23, 2006, at home of brain cancer in Covina, Calif. Born Jan. 14, 1976, in Lawrence, Kan. Preceded in death by paternal and maternal grandparents, Louis J. and Katharine A. Cicotello, Windber, and Paul W. and Ruth A. Blough, Riverside, Calif., formerly of Windber. Survived by wife, Elizabeth Whitcher, Covina; parents, David Cicotello, Omaha, Neb., and Pamela (Blough) Morton, Lincoln, Neb.; and sisters, Camille Cicotello, Omaha, and Nicole Seilhymer, Lincoln. A 1994 graduate of Kirksville Area High School, Missouri, and attended Truman State University and Pasadena City College. A 2003 graduate of Pitzer College, Claremont, Calif. Enrolled at Claremont School of Theology at time of death. Member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Pomona, Calif. Former employee of Vidfilm, Glendale, Calif. Avid filmmaker. Internment at Olivewood Cemetery, Riverside.

HAYMAKER - William F. "Bill," Sr., 71, Vinco, passed away Aug. 10, 2006. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday.



HAZLETT - Benjamin

HAZLETT - Benjamin, 28, Lilly, formerly of Portage, died Aug. 14, 2006, at Altoona Hospital. Born April 20, 1978, in Johnstown, the son of William L. Hazlett Jr. and Joyce (Miller) Hazlett-Kenner. Preceded in death by father; maternal grandmother, Phyllis (Storey) Miller; and niece, Alexis Miller. Survived by mother, Joyce Kenner, and companion, Jack Gargon, Cresson; paternal grandparents, William L. "Bud" Hazlett Sr. and Shirley (Pauley) Hazlett, Portage; and maternal grandfather, Richard "Dick" Miller, Portage. Brother of Shannon Hazlett, and special friend, Ron Lynch, Gallitzin; Jennie Hazlett, Lilly; Carissa Kenner; Brett Kenner; and Dillion Gargon, all of Cresson. Also survived by nieces, Madison Grace Walter and Carlie Jean Hazlett; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and Ben's special friend, Amber Lingafelt, Cresson. Former employee for the Osmos Corp. and he really enjoyed building and erecting communications towers. His favorite pastime was playing with his nieces and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Mark A. Serenko Funeral Home, Portage, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, the Rev. John J. Palko officiating. Committal in Prospect Cemetery.



RODISH - Katherine (Shuster)

RODISH - Katherine (Shuster) "Kitty," 91, of Windber, went to be with the Lord Aug. 15, 2006, at the Presbyterian Home in Westmont. Born March 7, 1915, in Windber, daughter of Joseph and Susie (Gulyassy) Shuster. Preceded in death by parents; husband, George Rodish; daughter, Barbara Rodish; brothers, John and Joseph Shuster; and sister, Anna Colgan. Survived by daughter, Dorothy, wife of David Belz, Johnstown, and granddaughters, Heather and Tiffany. Sister of Mary, wife of Michael Varchola, Michigan, and Steve Shuster, Windber. Also survived by sister-in-law, Anne Shuster, Pittsburgh, and several nieces and nephews. Katherine was a former hostess and floor manager at Horne and Hardant Automat, 42nd Street, New York City, in her earlier years. Member of Greek Catholic Union and member of SS. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Windber, where Katherine was a founding member of the Church Women's Club and member of the Altar Society. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber, and where Burial Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Brief service, 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. at SS. Peter -- Paul Orthodox Church, Windber, the Very Rev. Protopresbyter David J. Smoley. Interment, church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to SS. Peter -- Paul Church Building Fund.



SAYLOR - Daisy J.

SAYLOR - Daisy J., 12, of Windber, died Aug. 15, 2006, at Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh. Arrangements by Hoffman Funeral Home, Davidsville, are incomplete.



SULLIVAN - James F.

SULLIVAN - James F., 66, Johnstown, died Aug. 13, 2006, at his residence. Born March 16, 1940, in Barnesville, Ga., son of the late Andrew and Evelyn (Howard) Sullivan. Also preceded in death by his wife, the former Eugenia Baxter; four sisters; and three brothers. Survived by daughters, Sharmaine, married to Derrick Hughes, and Tina Sullivan, both of New Jersey; stepson, Warren Benjamin Long; six grandchildren; sister, Mary Harris; and brother Dennis, married to the former Mary Perry, both of Johnstown; special nephew, Ed Harris; and a host of nieces and nephews. James served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and Bethel AME Church, 180 New St., Johnstown, where friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, the Rev. Theodore Tisinger and the Rev. Calvin McCray. Interment, Benshoff Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., West Hills.



THOMAS - Isabelle

THOMAS - Isabelle "Aunt Izzy," 92, formerly of Hornerstown, passed away Aug. 14, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Jan. 7, 1914, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Richard and Harriet (Penrod) Retallack. Preceded in death by husband, John; sisters, Martha Diamond, Nora Chase and Mary College; and brothers, Richard and Harry. Survived by son, Larry W., married to the former Sharon Hoppert; grandsons, Alan, married to the former Bobbi Lapinsky, and J.J., married to the former Marsha Blough; great-grandson, Aidan Thomas; and sisters-in-law, Agnes and Mary Thomas, all of Johnstown. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of St. John Gualbert Cathedral. Member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Volunteer Firemen Association of Cambria County and member of the Seventh Ward Civic Association. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. John Gualbert Cathedral, Monsignor George B. Flinn, V.G. Interment, Grandview Cemetery.



THOMAS - Alton V.

THOMAS - Alton V., age 79, resident of Cleveland, Ohio, former resident of Johnstown, died on Aug. 13, 2006, at his residence. He is the husband of Betty; father of Gary Thomas (Janis), Wanda Pennington, Dareen Thomas, Beth Thomas, Lori Thomas, Michelle Bican (Mitchell) and the late Terry L. (Beatrice Janowski); brother of Nevin Thomas (Shirley) and the late Raymond (Emma) and Donald (Thelma); grandfather of 14; and great-grandfather of one. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 2, at 1 p.m. at the Baker Osinski Kensinger Funeral Home, 206 Front St., Berea, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Ohio, 2500 E. 22nd St., Cleveland, Ohio 44115. Family will receive guests at the residence following services.

WHITED - Margaret Hannah, 88, of Northern Cambria, died Aug. 14, 2006, at Rebekah Manor, Northern Cambria. Born July 13, 1918, in Arnet, daughter of Philip and Margaret Gilroy Dawson Stock. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 64 1/2 years, Wesley J., who died in 2002; brothers, Lester, Richard, John and Philip Stock; and sisters, Mamie Ryder, Clara Whited and Catherine Sharkey. Survived by children, James Wesley, married to Barbara (Jacobs) and Gerald L. "Jerry," married to Janet (Young), both of Northern Cambria; and L. Phyllis Stahl of Apollo; grandchildren, Scott Whited and Kelli Buterbaugh; Brent Stahl; and Janielle and Jeremy Whited; and great-grandchildren, Braden and Taylor Whited; Rebecca and W.
