BARBUS-McMINN - Elayne M.

BARBUS-McMINN - Elayne M., 49, of East Conemaugh, passed away Sept. 25, 2006, at Laurel Crest Nursing and Rehabilition Center. Born March 23, 1957, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Joseph S. and Dorothy M. (Lebosky) Barbus, East Conemaugh. Preceeded in death by father; husband, Ed C. McMinn; and a sister, Melanie Barbus. In addition to her mother, she is survived by son, Joey S. Barbus, East Conemaugh; sisters, Paulette B., wife of Tom Szwast, East Taylor Township; Barbara J.; Susan, wife of Robin Dietz; and Joyce L., fianc? of Fred Farabaugh, all of East Conemaugh, and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces. Elayne was a member of First Lutheran Church, Johnstown. She was a 1975 graduate of Conemaugh Valley High School. Elayne's son, Joey, was her pride and joy. Friends received from 2 p.m. until time of service 6 p.m. Thursday at the Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, with the Rev Warren S. Karshin. Private family committal, Grandview Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Elayne's son, Joey Barbus, 207 Main Street, Conemaugh, Pa. 15909.



BROTHERS - Donald E. Jr.

BROTHERS - Donald E. Jr., 58, Portage, died Sept. 26, 2006, at home. Born July 13, 1948, in Ebensburg, son of Donald E. Sr. and Anna Mae Brothers. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by stepmother, Margaret (Chappell) Sheppard-Brothers; brothers and sisters, Keith, Karen Wylie, Calvin, Thomas, Donna, Timothy and Laura; also survived by stepsisters, Sally, wife of William Frederick, Michigan; Suzanne, wife of Frank Brink, Blairsville; Patricia, wife of John Mondick, and Wendy, wife of Dan Donoughe, both of Sidman; and Florence, wife of Steve Denham, Missouri. Ordained as an Orthodox priest for the North American Orthodox Catholic Church on May 21, 1978. Later he worked as a cook for various restaurants. Army veteran of the Vietnam era. Member of Post 430, American Legion; Post 895. VFW; and Philipsburg AMVETS. Also a member of the Portage Military Funeral Ritual Team. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Mark A. Serenko Funeral Home, Portage, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Richard P. Howe, officiating. Committal, Mount Union Cemetery. Military funeral rites by the Portage veterans organizations.
