BERKHIMER - Richard A. "Berky," 62, of Blue Knob, passed away Dec. 8, 2006, at home, after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born Sept. 8, 1944, in Blue Knob, the son of Harry E. and Edna E. (Reese) Berkhimer. He was a 1962 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School. He married Peggy A. Knisely on June 12, 1965, at Queen. He was a life member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ, Blue Knob, where he served as elder on the Consistory and greeter for many years, and worked actively in the community. He worked as a salesperson for Cove Auto Supply for 21 years and he retired as the plant manager for DeVecchis/Beavertown Block Co. in June 2006, after 21 years of service. He is survived by his mother; wife; daughter, Mary Walter, and husband, Kent, Claysburg; and son, Jim, and wife, Cheri (Mock), Blue Knob. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Rachel and Reid Walter and Cara and Cassie Berkhimer; two sisters, Donna Finnegan, and husband, Dick, Greenfield, and Sheryl Osborn, and husband, Michael, Jersey Shore; and two brothers, Edward, and wife, Sally, and Roy and wife, Diana, both of Blue Knob. He has many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Richard. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father; his in-laws, C. Curtis and Goldie Knisely, Queen; and a nephew, Travis Knisely. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ, Blue Knob, the Revs. William and Mary Hendricks will officiate. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Mt. LLEWELLYN - David Thomas Jr., 55, of Nanty Glo, died Dec. 8, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 19, 1951, in Johnstown, son of the late David Thomas Sr. and Lola (Folckemer) Llewellyn. Preceded in death by brother, Ralph. Surviving, wife of 33 years, the former Linda Hagens, Belsano; sons, Luke Llewellyn, and wife, Danielle, Twin Rocks, and Paul Llewellyn, and wife, Nichole, Masaryktown, Fla.; grandchildren, Bridget and Randy Llewellyn and Evan Horvath; brother, Daniel W. Llewellyn, married to the former Mary DeYulis, Mentor, Ohio; sister, Barbara Shirley, and husband, Terry, Brush Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews. A retired design and documentation manager with Invensys Appliance Control. Author of four registered patents. Active member of the Coal Country Auto Club, Twin Rocks, and the Blue Goose Sportsmen Club, Belsano. MARCINKO - Dorothy E., 89, Uniontown, formerly of Munster, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006. Born February 6, 1917, daughter of the late George C. and Susan G. Kretzler. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Marcinko, and her sister, Ruth K. Jones. She is survived by her nephew, Floyd Jones, Ohiopyle, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dorothy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Emsworth. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Dorothy's name to the Cherry Tree Alliance Church. Kniss; second husband, Homer Mattes; grandsons, Joshua and Scott Kniss; brothers, Chuck, Ken and Mel; and sisters, Grace Cavelle and Gert Beam. Survived by children, Barbara Douglass, Johnstown; Larry, married to Mary (Solas), Mesa Ariz.; Tom, Oxnard, Calif.; Bob, married to Rose (Stasko), and Richard, both of Johnstown; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. MICHALOSKY - Martin, 68, Summerhill Township, died Dec. 8, 2006, at home. Born April 13, 1938, in Johnstown, son of Andrew Sr. and Rose (Dombeleski) Michalosky. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Andrew, Frank, Edward, Paul and Raymond; two infant brothers; sisters, Mary Graf, Anella Kalicky and baby sister, Rayetta. Last member of his immediate family. Survived by loving and devoted wife, Teresita (Skrack) Michalosky, and son, Martin Andrew Michalosky, and wife, Connie, Crownsville, Md. Also survived by sister-in-law, Bronwyn, wife of Jeff Sossong, and brother-in-law, Foster Skrack, and wife, Carol, both of Portage; and many nieces and nephews. Served in U.S. Army during the Bay of Pigs Incident for "Old Ironsides." Loyally served our nation's veterans by serving as post commander and executive director for AM Vets Post 150 in Portage. Active member of Post 430 American Legion and Post 895 VFW. Employed as an iron worker for Kent Steel for many years. Member of Ironworkers Local 772, Clearfield County. Active member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church and the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus in Coleen, Texas. Marty loved his family and thoroughly enjoyed farming throughout the year. He was especially noted for his garlic, kolbasi and sauerkraut. He was a man of faith who read his Bible daily. He helped his neighbors on a regular basis and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Friends received from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Mark A. Thacker; and a great-grandson, Tyler Thacker. O'HARA - Mrs. Fay L., 89, Laurel View Village, Davidsville, formerly of Windber, died Dec. 9, 2006, at the Village. Born July 12, 1917, in Belltown, daughter of the late James R. and Flora (Baldwin) Hechler. Also preceded in death by husband, Olin O'Hara; second husband, Samuel O'Hara; daughter, Patricia Foust; brothers, Donley, James and Theodore; granddaughter, Robin Foust; and daughter-in-law, the former Leah Phillips. Survived by children, James M., and wife, Janet; Terry L., and wife, Julie; and Tammy R., wife of Kim Pearson, all of Chambersburg; Debra, wife of Robert Parker, Woodbridge, Va.; and Ginger, wife of Harry Barnes, Windber. Also 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Sister of W. Jane Weaver, Windber. Fay is also survived by her many friends and staff at Laurel View Village. SMOLKO - Stephen Francis, 65, of Johnstown, died Dec. 8, 2006, at his home. Born Nov. 10, 1941, in Colver, son of the late Stephen W. and Mary Ann (Pysz) Smolko. Survived by children, Kenneth Smolko, Pittsburgh; Joseph Smolko, Hanover; and Briget, Annapolis, Md. Also survived by two grandchildren. Brother of Regis Smolko, Pittsburgh. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force. No viewing or vigil for the deceased. Family will have a memorial Mass in Northern Cambria during the week of Dec. 18.
