ASCHER - Hilda B.

ASCHER - Hilda B., 88, Richland Township, formerly of Dale Borough, died Jan. 22, 2007, at Golden Living Center, Vo-Tech Drive. Born Sept. 26, 1918, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Robert J. Sr. and Marie (Asher) Ascher. Preceded in death by sisters, Marie, and Anna Shaffer, and brothers, Robert J. Jr. and Walter. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. Member of the St. Joseph Chapel of the St. John Gualbert Cathedral. Ms. Ascher was employed at the former Glosser Bros. Store for many years. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Geisel Funeral Home, Dale. A prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Geisel-Devlin Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Monsignor George B. Flinn, V.G. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery.



BADOWSKI - Chester Anthony Sr.

BADOWSKI - Chester Anthony Sr., 80, of Windber, passed peacefully on Jan. 22, 2007, at Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community in Carlisle. Preceded in death by his son, Chester A. Badowski Jr.; daughter-in-law, Christine (Berkey); and his brothers, Joseph, John, Edward and George Badowski. Survived by his beloved and beautiful wife of 57 years, Florence (Friday) Badowski, and sons, Joseph, wife, Kathy (O'Donnell); Michael, wife, Bernyce (Harbaugh); and Thomas, wife, Denise (Charney). Loving grandfather of nine, Matthew, Nathan, Aaron, Elizabeth, Andrew, Maria, Russell, Philip and Jennifer Badowski. Brother of Stanley and Frank Badowski, both of Windber. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Nellie and Helen Badowski. Mr. Badowski was born in Windber. on July 19, 1926. He was thrice decorated for his service in the U.S. Navy with the Pacific Fleet during World War II. He worked in the coal mines for 20 years following the war, and then became a self-employed plumbing and heating contractor. He is a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church (formally St. John Cantius) in Windber, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, the Very Rev. Leonard E. Voytek V.F. Committal, St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery, Windber. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the William Kisiel Funeral Home in Windber, where vigil for the deceased will be held.
