BARD - Donald

BARD - Donald G., Turner Apartments, Ebensburg, went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2007. He was born on July 29, 1924, son of the late Norman and Rosalia (McCann) Bard. He was preceded in death by wife of 42 years, Magdalene, and sister, Dolores Murray. He is survived by daughters, Kathleen, wife of Sam Laporte, Florida, and Diane, wife of Lawrence Cornetti, Nanty Glo, and sons, Donald N., married to Cindy K. (Hollowniczky), Florida, and Dennis Bard, Orlando, Fla. Also survived by seven grandchildren, Craig, Jacquelyn, Kristie (Bard), Tammy (Aurandt), Robert, Maria and Matt Cornetti. He had five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was retired from L. Robert Kimball -- Associates in Ebensburg. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He was a member of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church in Ebensburg. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg, where vigil prayer service will be held. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Church. Entombment will follow at Holy Name Mausoleum. Military rites by Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald's memory may be made to his church.


BERKEBILE -?Irene Z., 95, Windber, beloved mother, sister, sister-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away at the Tremont House, Houston, Texas, on June 14, 2007, with her daughter, Colleen, at her side. Irene was preceded in death by husband, Emory V. Berkebile; daughter, Zoe Ann Koehler; and six brothers. Irene will be missed by daughter, Colleen, and husband, Don DeTata, Houston, Texas; son-in-law, George Koehler, Windber; sister, Betty Zembower, Anaheim, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Virginia Geiser and Laverne Berkebile, both of Windber, and Lucille Geiser, Catonsville, Md.; grandchildren, Kim, and husband, Larry Dugan, Yorktown, Va.; Todd Koehler, and wife, Dr. Tamara Hoffman, Windber; Beth Koehler, Pittsburgh; and Lt. Col. David DeTata, and wife, Jaew, U.S. Army in South Korea; great-grandchildren, Kaitlin and Cassidy, Windber; and nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held July 21, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the farm and following a grave site service. A private family reunion will follow.

BROWN - Josephine

BROWN - Josephine A. (Nazimek), 81, Garvey Manor, formerly of Patton, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 21, 2007. She was born July 27, 1925, in Newburgh, N.Y., daughter of the late John and Frances (Pudda) Nazimek. In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin L. Brown, on March 21, 1983, and they married on Oct. 1, 1944, in Newburgh; her sons, Melvin Jr. and Charles; sister, Loretta Leja; and brother, Stanley. Josephine is survived by her sons, Robert, and his wife, Kathy, Virginia Beach, Va., and Erik, and his wife, Deanna, Hollidaysburg; her daughter, Cheryl, Portage; and 11 grandchildren, Robert, Jason, Christopher, Erika, Andrew, Michael, Mark, Leanne, Charles, Christina and Jacinta. She also is survived by her sister, Victoria Suraci, Newburgh. Josephine and Melvin raised their family of five children in Patton, where they attended St. Mary's Catholic Church, now Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Josephine loved to sing and was a soprano in the St. Mary's choir for many years. She was a devoted wife and loving homemaker, who also provided a second income for the family in a variety of occupations, including an Avon representative, an administrative assistant at Prince Gallitzin State Park and as a sales clerk at Kmart in Altoona. A devout Catholic, Josephine instilled her faith in her children along with a love for music, a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility and the importance of education. She won the Ms. Cambria County Senior and Ms. Pennsylvania Senior pageants in 1985, and competed in Ms. Senior America Pageant in Atlantic City, N.J., in 1986. Josephine enjoyed traveling. She visited Poland, Israel and Medjugorje. She also enjoyed outdoor activities, including gardening, camping and walking. Josephine was a longtime advocate for the unborn and a member of the ICBU in Patton and the Polish American Society in Virginia Beach, Va. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 1004 N. Fifth Ave., Patton, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton, by Benedictine Fathers. Committal, St. Mary's Cemetery.

FELTON - Ralph M., 83, Armagh, died June 20, 2007. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, Armagh, where service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday.


HASELTON - Betty E., 60, Portage, died June 19, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center. Born July 16, 1942, in Johnstown, daughter of Joseph and June (Mardis) Repine. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Brenda Creed; and sisters, Joy, Patricia Nelson and Georgia. Survived by children, Anna Repine, William Hedrick, Tom Hedrick and Robert Hedrick; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Sister of Jorene Patterson, Deanna Humphrey, Samuel Repine, Barbara Linkes, Linda Toler, John Repine and Anna Crystalowski. Memorial service at noon Sunday at Fort Lawn Memorial Park Chapel, the Rev. Frank Hodges officiating. Family is being served by Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Portage.

LORD - David

LORD - David "Snub," 80, Osterburg, died June 22, 2007, at home with his family by his side. Born March 31, 1927, in Barnesboro, son of David and Emma (Davis) Lord. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Pamela; and wife, the former Joanne F. Osewalt. Survived by these children: Linda, wife of Danny Jones, Painesville, Ohio; Rita, wife of Thomas Jones, Painesville, Ohio; David, married to the former Judy Swope, Osterburg; and William, married to the former Donna Swope, Osterburg; grandchildren, Danny Jones Jr., Shawn Jones, Thomas Jones Jr., Toni Ann Jones, Tasha (Jesse) Malner, David Lord Jr., Rasi (Kevin) Nicodemus, William Lord Jr., Tanna Lord and Snub Lord; and great-grandchildren, Trenton, Madelynn, Patrick, Stephen, Thomas, Shawn, Kyle "Otto," Annabel, Owen and Samantha. Brother of Emma Krupka, Beaverdale, and Wayne Polaski, Tennessee. He was the former owner of Snub's Pub in Beaverdale. He was a simple, loving and hardworking family man and will be deeply missed by all. No viewing or visitation. Graveside service at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Bartholomew Cemetery, Wilmore, the Rev. RAYHA - Charles J. "Butch," 64, New Florence, died June 20, 2007, in Atlantic City, N.J. Born April 5, 1943, in Johnstown, son of the late Stephen Sr. and Nellie (Gresik) Rayha. Also preceded in death by sister, Jennie, and brother, Joseph Rayha. Survived by loving wife, Patricia (Kubay) Rayha; son, Mark Rayha, Madison, Wis.; daughter, Tricia Nemoseck, and husband, Eric, San Diego, Calif.; brothers, Stephen Jr. "Shorty" Rayha; William Rayha, and wife, Eileen; James Rayha, and wife, Jan, all of Johnstown; sisters, Dorothy "Tootsie" Janakovic, Johnstown; Jeannie Steele, Edison, N.J.; Angie and Fran Rayha, both of Johnstown; Nancy Gordon, and husband, Tom, Cairnbrook; sister-in-law, Terry Rayha, Sussex, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews. Death ends a marriage union of 38 years. U.S. Navy veteran. Retired employee of Bethlehem Steel Corp., Johnstown Plant, Rod -- Wire Division.
