Born April 17, 1921, in Windber, daughter of John Zindash and Mary (Onitza) Zindash-Lucas. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Samuel Beechan; son, Ronald Beechan, who died at age 4; brothers, John and George Zindash; and sisters, Florence Yorro and Mary Zindash. Survived by these children: sons, Samuel, and wife, Sandra (Yasko) Beechan; Joseph Beechan; and James Beechan, all of Windber; and daughters, Linda, wife of Peter Lacasse, Methuen, Mass., with whom Rachel resided, and Elizabeth, wife of Edward Preneta, Suffolk, Va.; grandchildren, James, Shannon and Kimberly Beechan; Peter Lacasse Jr., and Christopher Lacasse, and wife, Jennifer; and Michael and Kristie Preneta. Rachel also is survived by a niece that was very special to her, Brenda Kelly of Brooklyn, N.Y., and numerous other nieces and nephews. Member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Windber. FINK - Walter A., 89, Brewer Avenue, Patton, died July 23, 2007, at the home of his daughter, Joyce Caretti, Patton. Born Dec. 8, 1917, in Osceola. Preceded in death by father, Walter Fink; mother, Ida (McMonigal) Fink Walk; stepfather, Howard Walk; brother, Richard; sister, Thelma McClellan; half brothers, Ben Walk and Elwood Walk; and half sisters, Helen Dillon and Bettye Walk. Survived by wife, former Sylvia Shomo, whom he married Oct. 18, 1939, in Coalport; children, Darryl (Judy Eichenlaub), Mechanicsville, Va.; Joyce Caretti (Earl), Patton; and Dale (Sandra Bowman), Bossier City, La.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and half brothers and sister, Irene Cree, Warren Walk, Arthur Walk and Austin Walk. Worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and local coal mines for a number of years and as a self-employed carpenter. Walter enjoyed woodworking. Member of UMWA. GREENWOOD - Clarissa, 86, Johnstown, a dedicated Christian, was called home to be with the Lord at 11:20 p.m. July 22, 2007, at Suburban General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Dec. 14, 1920, in Coatesville, Pa., to the late Thomas and Mabel (Lane) Simms. Preceded in death by husband, Jodie Greenwood; sons, Donald T. and Joe E. Greenwood; a daughter, Maxine Greenwood; and a stepdaughter, Edith Sturdivant-Lacey. Clarissa was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and sister. She leaves to mourn a daughter, Wanda Green (William) of Atlanta; sons, Gerald Williams (Lynn) of Ohio, and Frankie Bruder of Pennsylvania; siblings, Violet Clayton, Rachael Simms, David Simms, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Simms and Thomas Simms, all of Johnstown; and Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Simms of Los Angeles. Preceded in death by siblings, Charles Simms, Ruth Simms and Naomi Moore. She was affectionately known as "Gram" to 21 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. HAVRILLA - Michael "Mick" Francis, 59, Craig, Colo., formerly of Portage, passed away July 19, 2007, at St. Luke's Presbyterian Hospital, Denver, Colo. Born May 4, 1948, in Johnstown, son of Mike and Cleoda "Boots" (Warner) Havrilla. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by wife, the former Kathy Lazar, Lilly; children, Aimee (Ben) Arroyo, Jennifer and Eric, all of Colorado; granddaughter, Adelynn Arroyo; and sister, Phyllis, wife of John "Jubba" Gresky, Portage. Mick worked in the coal mines and then as a federal mine inspector in Colorado. A 1966 graduate of Portage Area High School and Penn State. He was first lieutenant in 101st Airborne in Vietnam. Mick enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with family and friends. Funeral arrangements being made in Craig, Colo.

MORGAN - Richard P. Jr., 72, of Johnstown, died Monday, July 23, 2007, at Conemaugh Hospital following a long and valiant struggle with paraplegia. Born Dec. 10, 1934, in Johnstown, son of Dr. Richard P. and Helen (King) Morgan. Preceded in death by parents, and brother, William S. Morgan. Survived by children, Douglas Richard Morgan of Dunkirk, Md., and Cindy (Dante) Righini of Rosedale, Md.; and brother, Owen K. Morgan, M.D., and his wife, Marian, of Johnstown. Also survived by grandchildren, David and Donald Morgan and Michael and Brian Righini. Richard graduated from Johnstown High School in 1953 and attended the University of Pittburgh at Johnstown. He worked many years in the accounting department of Bethlehem Steel and enjoyed golf, swimming and music. He was an excellent singer, belonged to quartets and church choirs and would often entertain friends and acquaintances with his strong voice. He will be sadly missed by his brother, family and friends who assisted him through his extended disability and illnesses. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon Thursday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., Pastor Jeff Vanderhoff. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. RODKEY-HESS- Gertrude "Dolly," 83, Johnstown, died July 23, 2007, at the Allegheny Lutheran Home. Born April 12, 1924, in Johnstown, daughter of George A. and Mary (Wichmann) Hess. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Catherine Hochstein, Helen Hess and Margaret Martinez; and brothers, George, Joseph and Charles J. Hess. Survived by brothers, Herbert, married to the former Doris Owens of Johnstown, and Leo, married to the former Colleen Ashton of Redwood, Calif. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great- great-nieces and great-great- nephews. Dolly had a great love for many, and her life revolved around service and compassion for others, including her family and the many neighborhood children in her life. She will be sadly missed by all those lives she touched. Past member of the former CWV Post 954 and the Harmonie Singing Society. She was born on May 15, 1920, in Johnstown, daughter of John and Mary (Homa) Lizanec. Preceded in death by parents; first husband, John A. Kula Jr.; second husband, William L. Schrott; brothers, John, Michael, and Nicholas; and sisters, Anna Sevenack and Mary Balog. She is survived by her children, Jennifer L., wife of Dr. Karl W. Salatka, Lower Burrell; Rosalyn A., wife of Michael R. Marovich, Johnstown; and Edward M. Kula, Louisville, Ohio; grandchildren, Melissa R. and Michael F. Marovich; and a brother, Joseph Boulder. Helen was a retired employee of the Ebensburg Center. After her retirement, she was a volunteer at Lee Hospital and at SS. Peter and Paul Church for many years. WEAVER - Agnes M., 94, Johnstown, went to join the Lord and her beloved husband and son, Monday, July 23, 2007, at her daughter's home, surrounded by her family. Born April 21, 1913, a daughter of the late James and Mary (Matthews) Kelly. Predeceased by husband, Richard W. Weaver; son, Richard M. Weaver; sisters, Anna Payne, Catherine Kelly and Mary Berrang; and brothers, James E. and Matthew Kelly and an infant brother. Survived by daughter, Terrie A. Miller, and her husband, Dean W., Johnstown; grandchildren, Cynthia Huntley, Jeffery Weaver (Julie), Scott Weaver (Patti), Kellie Kemp (Rick) and Erin Sherwood (J. Timothy); 12 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She retired from Penn Traffic after 30 years. A former member of North Fork Country Club and a dedicated volunteer at the former Operation Touch.
