Vernon L. Jones

JOHNSTOWN — JONES – Vernon L., 87, Johnstown, died Nov. 13, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Aug. 10, 1926, in Johnstown, son of the late Tally and Thelma (Green) Jones. Preceded in death by wife, the former Norma Frable. Survived by sons, Jeffery L. Jones, and wife, Marcy, Baltimore; and Greg A. Jones, Johnstown. Also survived by grandchildren, Kristopher A. Jones, Jessica Brendel, Michael J. Jones and Brian S. Jones; and two great-grandchildren. Vernon was a U.S. Marine during World War II, having served as a corporal, and received a Purple Heart. He was employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Member of Retired Men’s Club, Johnstown-Cambria County Senior Activity Center and Westmont Presbyterian Church. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday at Picking- Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., 921 Menoher Blvd., the Rev. Kevin Rea, officiating. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. (
