Paul F. Burkett

NEW BALTIMORE — BURKETT – Paul F., 90, New Baltimore, passed away July 16, 2013, at Meadow View Nursing Home. Born April 28, 1923, in Manns Choice, Pa., son of the late Norman and Marie (Fochtman) Burkett. Preceded in death by first wife, Mary Garnet (Rudge) Burkett; second wife, Hilda (Eunen) Burkett; daughter, Mary Burkett; brothers, Francis and Lawrence Burkett; sister, Catherine Suhrie; daughter-in-law, Millie Burkett; and grandchild, Eric Paul Burkett. Survived by loving wife, Anna C. (Martin Hillegass) Burkett; sons, Paul G., married to Janis (Dysert) (Spochart) Burkett, North Huntingdon and Somerset; and James E. Burkett, and partner, Michael R. Neill, Pittsburgh; daughter, Kathleen L. Burkett, Richland; stepchildren, Alan Hillegass, married to Connie; Patricia Stoe, married to Patrick; Andrew Hillegass, married to Kate; and Joan Darr, married to David; brother, Clarence Burkett, Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; 20 stepgreat-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Paul was an U.S. Army veteran. He was a retired machinist for Bethlehem Steel Corp. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Council 8244, St. Benedict; Richland Township Fire Company; and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore; and former member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. Paul was an avid gardener. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Moskal & Kennedy Colonial Funeral Home, Johnstown, where vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Father David S. Peles, celebrant. Committal, Grandview Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 155.
