JOHNSTOWN — SWEETSER – Shari, 53, Johnstown, was received by God Nov. 29, 2013, at Windber Hospice. Born Nov. 15, 1960, in New York, daughter of Edward S. and Janet (Rosage) Paczek. Preceded in death by husband, Dennis Sweetser; maternal grandparents, Bernard and Ethel Rosage; and paternal grandparents, Stephen E. and Stella Ponczek. Survived by parents; great-aunt, Anna Mary Courtney; sons, D. James Wong, and wife, Sara Wong, Orlando, Fla.; Kyle Sweetser, Sidman; and 2nd Lt. Quentin Sweetser, U.S. Army out of Fort Riley, Kan.; brothers, Stanley, married to Susan (Miller); Stephen, married to Jessica (Kuzniar); Paul, married to Tina (Weyandt); and John, and girlfriend, Chelsi Jerome; and sister, Melissa, married to Christopher Clites. Loving aunt to Bryan, Joshua, Vincent, Brock, Caitlyn, Hope, Abigail, Emma, Christopher Jr. and Tegan. Shari was a 1978 graduate of Greater Johnstown Vo-Tech. After working for several years as a property manager in Maryland, Shari returned to live in Johnstown. Earlier this year, Shari proudly celebrated the graduation of her youngest son, Quentin, from Virginia Military Institute. She loved animals, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Shari courageously accepted her diagnosis of malignant melanoma in August of this year. Determined to live life to the fullest, Shari arranged for her loving family to celebrate an early Christmas, complete with Christmas sweaters and homemade snow. Shari’s determination allowed her to enjoy her 53rd birthday earlier this month. She was blessed to see, one last time, the changing colors of fall and the first flakes of snow. With grace and dignity, Shari left this earth, knowing that she is loved and will always be remembered. She will be sadly missed by her family and many dear friends. There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, the Rev. David S. Peles, celebrant. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home, East Hills, is in charge of arrangements.
