SOMERSET — ABEL – Alma E., 81, Somerset, died July 1, 2014, at In Touch Hospice, Somerset. Born Dec. 24, 1932, in Johnstown, daughter of John and Mary (Streilein) Pudliner. Preceded in death by parents; husband, the Rev. Gene J. Abel; brother, Dr. John H. Pudliner, and his wife, Marjorie (Todhunter); and brother, Albert H. Pudliner. Survived by children, Rebecca A., Oakland, Calif.; and Christopher J., Aliquippa; and brother, Ernest A., married to Janet (Rowland), and their children, Ernest II, Liese J. Reeder and Dr. Betsy A. Pudliner. Also survived by niece, Dr. Heidi Niegarth; nephew, John Pudliner; and sister-in-law, Alberta (Senft) Pudliner, and her children, Albert Pudliner and Alberta Jean Kresak. Alma was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Johnstown. A 1951 graduate of Johnstown High School. She worked in Johnstown at Bethlehem Steel and for an oncologist, Dr. Crooks. Later in life, she worked for many years in the optometry offices of Dr. Burton Kraus and Dr. Antoinette Botti in Somerset. There will not be a viewing; however, a service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grandview Mausoleum, the Rev. Ardelle Mason, officiating. Family suggests memorial donations be made to Somerset Hospital, Somerset In Touch Hospice or a charity of choice. John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, Johnstown, will be in charge of arrangements.
