PORTAGE TOWNSHIP — CASALE – Samuel A. “Sam,” 84, Portage Township, died March 23, 2013, at Altoona Hospital. Born Feb. 21, 1929, in Portage, son of Carmelo and  Giuseppina “Josephine” (Moschella) Casale. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Shirley (Gregory) Casale;  and sister-in-law, Emma  (Pingtella) Casale. Survived by children, Samuel Casale, married to the former Joan Shrift, Duncansville; Marcia, wife of David Crossman, York; Lauren, wife of Larry Graham, Cresson; Jeffrey Casale, married to the former Mary Ann Muffie, Mechanicsburg; Anita, wife of Gregory French, Timonium, Md.; Lydia, wife of Gary Madsen, Timonium, Md.; Alison, wife of Richard Filak, Cresson; and Amy, wife of Ted Swires, Cresson. He will be sadly missed by his 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Brother of Dr. Lawrence Casale, and wife, Nellie, Westmont; John “Jake” Casale, Cresson; Paul Casale, Cresson; and James Casale, Portage Township. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Former carpenter, stone mason, and co-owner of Casale Brothers Garage in Cresson for 43 years. Avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. Loved gardening on his farm “Paradise” and loved his chocolate lab, Vinnie. Friends received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, PC, Portage, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Committal, St. Bartholomew Cemetery.
