JOHNSTOWN — CATANESE – Philip J., 92, passed away Oct. 28, 2013, in Johnstown. Born March 13, 1921, in Seward, son of Antonio and Caterina (Guaetta) Catanese. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie; and brothers, Dominick and Anthony Catanese. Survived by loving children, Patricia, wife of Richard Csarak; Barbara Mainhart; and James, married to Suzanne, all of Johnstown; brothers, Joseph, John and Santo Catanese (Connie); grandchildren, Rob (Jessica), Michael (Rachelle), Jonathan (Angie) Mainhart, and Katie, Nick and Danielle Catanese; great-grandchildren, Raven, Jillian, Sophia, Riley and Jackson; sisters-in-law, Eileen Berkey, Betty Burke and Evelyn Catanese; and many nieces and nephews. Philip was a graduate of Greater Johnstown High School and Cambria-Rowe Business College. He was a World War II Navy veteran, earning the Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He also served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was a retired manager of 40 years at McNally Tire and Rubber. He also was employed at Sunnehanna Country Club for more than 20 years in the Pro Shop. Friends be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd., Johnstown, Pa. 15905. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, the Very Rev. Mark S. Begly. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum.
