NORTHERN CAMBRIA — GAIDA – Florence D., Marsteller and Northern Cambria, passed away Nov. 5, 2013. Born in Marsteller, daughter of Charles S. and Mary Rychel Gaida. She was predeceased by her parents; siblings, Joseph S., Edward A., Stella Bubenko, Helen Falt, Wanda Harris, John A., Walter, Julia Bee, Blair P. and Lucy G. Hargle; niece, Dr. Edwina Gaida Richards; and nephews, Jeremy J. Hayes and Iaian McConville. Survived by nieces and nephews, Scott and Marilyn Falt, Diana Gilbert, Cynthia Hayes, Charles Harris, Susan Schmitt-Lee, Janice Bramwell, Knute Bee, Georgianna Vaughn, Debbie Bee, Anita Kelly, Joy Clara, Patricia Gardner, James Gaida, Denise Essenberg, Blair Gaida, John Gaida, Ellen Hargle and Lorelei St. James; and sister-in-law, Kathryn Gaida. Florence had been employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, Senior Activities Center and retired as director of Southern Alleghenies Region Pennsylvania Attendant Care Program. She had been a full-time member of Catholic Lay Mission Corps, a lay volunteer group, for several years, having worked in Austin and San Antonio, Texas. Member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, where she served as extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, lector, cantor, choir director and past president of Pastoral Council. She also served as extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, reader, and cantor at Holy Incarnation Church, Marsteller. The Rev. Bishop Joseph V. Adamec awarded her the Prince Gallitzin Cross in 1990. Present member of Prince of Peace Church, where she served as extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, reader, pastoral council, hospital volunteer, cemetery committee and bereavement committee. Member of Cursillo and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Memorial donations may be made to Prince of Peace Memorial Fund or Prince of Peace Church. No public viewing or visitation. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Moriconi Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria, Father Larry Lacovic, officiating.
