Mary Margaret Davis

CAMBRIA TOWNSHIP — DAVIS – Mary Margaret, 94, Cambria Township (Colver), passed away peacefully May 5, 2013, at home. Born Oct. 24, 1918, in Colver, daughter of the late Richard and Ethel (Kelly) Jones. Preceded in death by husband, John L. Davis, who passed in 1968; sisters, Doris Schermerhorn and Elizabeth Jones; and brother, Donald Jones. Survived by children, Robert Davis and Mary Jeanne Davis, both at home; Patricia (John) Kerber, Mount Lebanon; and James (Carol) Davis, Colver; grandchildren, Matthew and Rachel Kerber and Michele Davis (William Blake); and great-granddaughter, Rylee Blake. Also survived by sister-in-law, Iona Davis, Patton, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was a member of Colver Presbyterian Church, where she had been active in the Presbyterian Women’s Association and was a former Sunday school teacher. She also had served as a 4-H leader, was active in the Cambria County Society of Farm Women and served as an election board worker in Colver for many, many years. She was instrumental in encouraging many people to vote and was proud of her interest in politics. Special thanks to Dr. Scott Magley and his staff for the care and understanding they afforded her. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg.  Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Colver Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Jim Farrer, officiating.  Interment, Lloyd Cemetery.  In lieu of other memorials, the family suggests donations to Colver Presbyterian Church or Colver Volunteer Fire Company and 40-Tech.
