Genevieve Sweeney

EAST CONEMAUGH BOROUGH — SWEENEY – Genevieve, 97, East Conemaugh, passed away March 21, 2013, at home. Born May 29, 1915, in South Fork, daughter of the late Joseph and Antonia (Sienkiewicz) Marshall. Also preceded in death by husband, Leo Sweeney, in 1987; brothers, Frank and Edward; and sisters, Stella, Angeline and Mary. Survived by loving son, Ronald Sweeney, Mentor, Ohio; nephews, Robert Nedroski, with whom she resided in East Conemaugh; Rex Marshall, Johnstown; niece, Dolores Stringent, Virginia Beach, Va.; grandchildren, Shannon Sweeney and Shane Sweeney, Mentor, Ohio; and great-grandchildren, Michael, Marlee and Jack Sweeney, all of Mentor, Ohio. Genevieve spent the great majority of her life in Cleveland, Ohio, where she and her husband operated their own restaurant, the G&L. Soon after the death of her husband, she moved to East Conemaugh to help care for her sister, Mary, and has lived there for the past 23 years. Genevieve was a member of Church of the Transfiguration, East Conemaugh, where funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Father Robert C. Hall, pastor. Committal will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at All Saints Cemetery, Northfield, Ohio. Friends received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, East Conemaugh, where vigil service will be held. Online condolences may be posted to www.wharrisfuneralhome.com.
