Martha Lucille Stephanic

ROCHESTER MILLS — STEPHANIC – Martha Lucille “Lucy,” 82, Rochester Mills, passed away peacefully March 7, 2014, at home  surrounded by her loving family.  Born Feb. 13, 1932, in Jackson Township, daughter of the late Raymond U. and Violet M. Schrack.  Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph  Stephanic, who passed away in 1997; brother, Raymond G. Schrack; and sisters, Elizabeth Stephens and Evelyn “Peep” Clouser.  Survived by sisters, Ruth Ellen (Bob) Turnbull, Rochester Mills, and  Harriet Faye (Bob) Sprankle, Punxsutawney; special friend and caregiver, Mary Lou Bailey; and several nieces and nephews who loved her very much.  A graduate of Indiana Hospital School of Nursing, she was a retired LPN for Punxsutawney Hospital.  She was a great cook and was the former owner/operator of the former Penn View Restaurant near Blairsville.  She loved caring for her animals, loved her family and was always at the ready to assist in trips or gatherings.  A member of the Valley Grace Brethren Church in Armagh, she had been attending Calvary Bible Church in Glen Campbell recently.  At Lucy’s request, there will be no viewing.  A private graveside service will be held by her family, the Rev. John Traxler officiating.  Interment, Pike Brethren Cemetery, Mundys Corner.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lucy’s memory to Calvary Bible Church, 2712 Pinevale Road, Glen Campbell, Pa. 15771.  Arrangements are in the care of Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo.
