Estella Margaret (Binnie) Henderson

NORTH FORT MYERS, FLA. — HENDERSON – Estella Margaret (Binnie), 94, formerly of West Bolivar, Pa., died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at Health Park Rehabilitation Center, Fort Myers, Fla. Born Feb. 23, 1919, in West Bolivar, daughter of the late William O. and Stella C. (Shaffer) Binnie. She is cherished by her family who will greatly miss her. Survived by her children, Mary Jane Myers, and husband, Alfred, Avella, Pa.; John R. Henderson, and wife ,Mary Ann, Cumming, Ga.; Janet R. Grier, and husband, Jim, Fort Myers, Fla.; and Thomas J. Henderson, and wife, Mitzi, Blairsville, Pa.; grandchildren, Beverly Barbus, New Florence; Robert “Butch” Ambrose, New Florence; John Kevin Henderson, Tampa, Fla.; Jason McKay, Arlington, Tenn.; Douglas A. Henderson, Dawsonville, Ga.; and Allison Henderson, Boston, Mass.; and great-grandchildren, Michael Barbus, Derry, Pa.; Dakota H.  Henderson, Tampa, Fla.; Beau McKay, Carter McKay, Jonah McKay and Isabella McKay, all of Arlington, Tenn.; and Linsey Ambrose, California; also great-great-grandchildren, Pyper Barbus, Armagh; and Ella Barbus, Derry, Pa. She is survived by one member of her immediate family, her sister, Grace M Wheeler, Dearborn, Mich.; and sister-in-law, Florence Decker, New Florence. Preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John Robert Henderson, in 1999; grandson, Anthony Ambrose, in 2013; brothers, Richard “Dick” B., William “Billy” D. and John “Jack” R, of Johnstown; and sister, Helen Rose, Fallbrook, Calif. Estella was an active member of Church of Christ – Southside, where she found a loving and welcoming congregation. Prior to moving to Florida, she was a longtime member of Ligonier Church of Christ in Pennsylvania. She retired from Torrance State Hospital, Torrance, Pa., where she was a longtime employee. Estella was an outstanding quilter and seamstress and self-taught hairdresser. She, along with her sister, Grace, spent many days laughing as they worked together making quilts for family members. Friends and family will celebrate her life at a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at Fort Myers Church of Christ – Southside, 13641 Learning Court, Fort Myers, Fla. 33919. A private internment with take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations go to Church of Christ – Southside, 13641 Learning Court, Fort Myers, Fla. 33919. Arrangements have been entrusted to National Cremation & Burial Society, N. Fort Myers.
